We are slowly moving towards “the new normal”. This activity in the open air fits in perfectly with this. What we can do, we make possible with the best possible service and “Half Board Plus”, with ravitaillement on the road and recovery shakes afterwards. The Restaurant Le Chalet in the Alpine village of Saint Jean d’Arves is our attractive, central service point.

Our accommodation

We offer spacious apartments of different sizes in classic Alpine chalets. Stay in the fresh mountain air, on the slopes of the Croix de Fer and within cycling distance of Alpine giants Alpe d’Huez, Galibier and Glandon.

The rental bikes

Opt for the convenience of a rental bike. Especially for the high mountains, we offer brand new high-end Full carbon road bikes with Ultegra (Di2 or mechanical) and disc brakes. Or opt for a powerful E-bike.

The Group Rides

We have made a selection of challenging rides, where you will encounter all the famous Tour de France cols. Enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery, with a group of your own level and an experienced guide. Our support car provides help and supplies on the road.

Accommodation


Saint Jean d’Arves is a commune in the Savoie department. The traditionally agricultural village is located at an altitude of 1,550m and has become a popular holiday destination in summer and winter in recent years. The village is located on the slopes of the Col de Croix de Fer, with a beautiful view of the «Aiguilles d’Arves». Within cycling distance of Alpine giants such as Alpe d’Huez, Col de Galibier and Col de Madeleine and the Maurienne valley. Discover the local gastronomy, the handmade products and the many outdoor activities for the whole family!

Chalet Arvina

ST. JEAN D’ARVES

The Arvina is a typical French Chalet with apartments for the active visitor, summer and winter. The heated apartments come with free on-site parking. Apartments have an equipped kitchen. Guests have access to a washing machine and a clothes dryer and can also find a restaurant and a minimarket 10-50 m away.

 

 

General Information

You can choose between the apartments of Goélia Les Marmottes and Chalet Arvina. Both chalets offer apartments in different sizes: from 2 to 10 people. Bedrooms are equipped for 2 persons. Single use of bedrooms in an apartment is possible for aan additional fee. Wifi is available. Guests can also use the shared washing machine and dryer. The apartments are comfortably furnished, with:

Chalet Goélia Les Marmottes

ST. JEAN D’ARVES


The apartments at Goélia Les Marmottes are classically decorated. In the central building of this complex is the reception and lounge with children’s play area and billiards. You can also enjoy the (heated) outdoor pool and the pétanque court. Goélia Les Marmottes is 100 meters from Restaurant Le Chalet. Free Wifi in the common area at the reception.

Atmosphere

 

During our stay we are completely taken care of by the team of restaurant Le Chalet. Le Chalet is characterized by its good service and French cuisine with fresh and local products in a typical Alpine atmosphere. Meals are adjusted if necessary (vegetarian etc.).

Both breakfast and dinner take place here.

Half Board ‘plus’

 

Given the challenging program on the bikes, we offer “Half Board Plus”. Restaurant Le Chalet provides home-made rice cakes and energy bars for the replenishment en route and smoothies and recovery shakes when you return from the ride. Non-cyclists and children are provided with an extensive picnic for the day.

Top E-bike

Fuji E Traverse 1.1, Hybrid bike, light aluminum frame, Bosch drivetrain, suspension fork, 11 speed, disc brakes. The Bosch motor provides you with an extra 250 watts. The battery content is 500 wh.
The battery can be changed on the road for longer trips.

Share the cycling pleasure!

Tour group

This group is for the sporty cyclist. The distances are between 80 and 140 km per day. You climb about 2,500 to 4,500m ascend per day. This group is not for e-bikes.

Fitness requirements: you are able to cycle 120-150 km on flat terrain with an average speed of 30-32 km/h. You already have extensive experience with cycling in the mountains.

Hobby group

This group is for the sporty but less ambitious cyclist. The distances are between 60 and 100 km per day. You climb about 2,000 to 3,800m ascend per day. This group is not for e-bikes.

Fitness requirements: you are able to cycle 100-130 km on flat terrain with an average speed of 27-30 km/h. You already have some experience with cycling in the mountains.

E-bike Sport group

This is an e-bike only group. This is your chance to discover the terrain of the Tour de France in a relaxed way. You cycle between 60 and 100 km per day, with between 2,000 and 3,800m ascend.

Fitness requirements: you are able to ride 80-100 km on flat terrain with an average speed of 22-27 km/h, on a normal racing or sports bike.

E-bike Cappuccino group

The Cappuccino group is an e-bike only group. The distances to be covered are between 16 and 30 km per day. The ideal group for sightseeing!
There are about 400 to 1,000m ascend per day.

Fitness requirements: you are able to ride 30-50 km on flat terrain with an average speed around 20 km/h, on a sports bike.

Travel to Saint Jean d’ Arves

By car: approx. 1.100km from Amsterdam, French highways require road tolls (approx. €60 one way, for mid size passenger car).

 

By plane: closest low budget airports are Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva (serviced by Ryanair, EasyJet and others), airport transfers can be arranged and will take up to 2hrs (one way); not included in travel package.

 

By train: closest trainstations are Chambery (95km) or St. Jean de Maurienne (25km), transfers can be arranged, not included in travel package.
