La Bola – the ascent of the Puig Major

Are you ready for an epic challenge in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana? La Bola Subida a la Bola del Puig Major offers you the chance to participate in one of Mallorca’s most spectacular climbs, all the way to the top of the island’s highest mountain! This unique event is for true adventurers who do not shy away from steep trails, breathtaking views and a dose of healthy competition.

Your race – social ride and individual challenge

51.6 kilometers, almost 2000 meters of altitude

On March 29, you will be at the start of this unforgettable ride to the famous “Bola” on the Puig Major, with its impressive altitude of 1,445 meters.
The start of the race is in Palma and the finish is on the Bola del Puig Major. There will be a social group ride starting in Palma over Col de Soller.This will be followed by a 29.3-kilometer climbing time trial to the Bola del Puig Major.

But that’s not all! The route takes you along an exclusive trail that is normally closed to the public, as much of the mountain is in military territory. Only during this event do you get access to these unique trails that take you through the heart of the mountain landscape and to the top of the mountain.

What makes La Bola so special?

Abandoned military trails: Much of the Puig Major is military terrain and not normally open to the public. Only during this event do you get access to these mysterious and remote trails that wind through the rugged landscape.
A steep, challenging climb: The route gets steeper the further up you climb, with some sections really challenging you. But the views make it more than worth it!
Panoramic views: As you gain altitude, you get spectacular views of the Mediterranean, the island and the steep cliffs of the Serra de Tramuntana.
The finish at “La Bola”: The radar dome, located at the top of the Puig Major, is a well-known landmark, but few have had the chance to see it up close. After a tough climb, a reward awaits here with 360-degree views of the island..

Registration and unique event shirt: With your registration you will receive a special bike shirt designed for this event – a perfect memento of your achievement!
Time registration with chip: Your time will be accurately measured with a chip, so every second counts.
Day license included: We will arrange the day license for you, so you only have to focus on the climb.
Refreshments along the way: Water, fruit and isotonic drinks will be waiting for you at the top of the Coll de Sóller, and at the finish on the Puig Major you will find water to recharge.
Checkroom service: Leave your belongings safely at our checkroom and enjoy the race carefree.
Diploma: Download your official diploma with finishing time the day after the race via the website.

Prize-giving ceremony around 13:00: The prize-giving ceremony will take place at the last refreshment station, depending on when the last participants have completed the race.
Joint return trip for Rompelberg participants: After the race, the Rompelberg participants cycle back together to hotel Fontanellas Playa and Aparthotel Jade – a leisurely 55 kilometer ride.
